General Description


Initial construction of the sewerage system, including sewerage reticulation system, treatment plant and ocean outlet at Corambirra Point, was carried out between 1954 and 1960, with increases in capacity in 1971, 1973, 1989 and 1985.

Sewerage Catchment:

  • Corambirra Point outfall is the discharge point for the Coffs Harbour STP.   

Sewage Treatment:  

  • IEAAS treatment process together with trickling filters and aerated oxidation ponds (MHL769 1997). Disinfection is achieved by chlorination.

Outfall:

  • The ocean outfall is located on the southern side of Corambirra Point. There are two pipe outlets, one of 600mm diameter and one of 300mm diameter, located within the intertidal zone. Only the 600mm pipe is currently in operation.
